BLOC Sports Performance & The Tribe
BLOC Sports Performance provides area
middle and high school athletes with professional-level sports performance training
in a Gospel-centered environment. Our motto “Train. Heal. Grow.” is derived
from bible scripture 1 Thessalonians 5:23:
"May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."
With every athlete that enters our doors, we strive
to train their bodies, to see healing in their souls and to see growth in their
spirits. We are not only providing athletic opportunities they would not have
otherwise, but we are meeting them in an area where we share a common passion.
We then use that shared passion to deepen our relationship with them and to
have the opportunity to share the Gospel. Many times we cook healthy meals together with the help of our very own onsite vegetable garden. All of this is done at no financial
cost to these youth.
The Tribe
The Tribe, at BLOC Sports
Performance, exists to work specifically with boys who are in the juvenile
justice system in Cincinnati. Young men are referred to us either judicially or
through probation by showing an interest in sports or working out. We
also go to the Hamilton County Youth Center twice a month to run a simple
workout. While there, we let every young man incarcerated know that they have an opportunity to be a part of what we do when they get out - at no financial cost
to them. Once they are in the Tribe, we take a holistic approach to caring for
each and every one. We use physical training as the foundation, from there we
provide tutoring, mentoring and eventually advocate for them as needed at court
appearances along with extending help to the family. Our hope for these young
men is that they encounter Jesus in the ways we work with them; they come to
know and follow Him; and the trajectory of their lives is changed forever.
Thus, changing our neighborhood forever.
